Zelensky emphasized the importance of a transparent report on which humanitarian projects and initiatives supported by the U.S. are currently in limbo.
“Today, I instructed officials to report on the American support programs that are now suspended. This concerns many areas, from communication and digitalization to support for veterans, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure restoration,” the president stated.
Among the programs requiring immediate attention, Zelensky highlighted those aimed at supporting children, veterans, and critical infrastructure facilities. He noted that part of the funding could be covered by the Ukrainian government itself, while the remaining projects would be discussed with partners from Europe and the United States.
The suspension of aid was triggered by a decision from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who ordered the freezing of funding for most international programs for 90 days. According to American authorities, this step aims to reassess the effectiveness of aid delivery and establish new priorities.
The risks for Ukraine during this temporary pause in support could be significant. This is particularly true for social and humanitarian projects that were previously funded directly through international organizations and did not rely on the state budget. However, Zelensky stressed that Ukraine will do everything possible to minimize the consequences.
