German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has sharply criticized Elon Musk, stating that the American billionaire's support for the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) undermines democratic processes.

This was reported by Glavpost, citing politexpert.net.

“We are grateful to the United States for their contribution to freeing Germany from the Nazi regime and restoring democracy. That is why I am outraged that Elon Musk publicly supports the far-right and fails to adequately respond to the historical crimes of the Nazis,” the Chancellor declared.

Musk's support for the AfD has sparked a storm of indignation among politicians and the public in Germany. During a party campaign event, where the billionaire appeared via video link, he stated that Germans should not feel guilty for the actions of their ancestors and should take pride in their culture. These remarks ignited fierce debates, especially in the context of Germany's historical responsibility for the events of World War II.

Scholz accused Musk of deliberately interfering in Europe's political processes and labeled his actions as “disgusting.”

“Musk is supporting right-wing politicians across Europe, and this is truly detrimental to the democratic development of the European Union,” the Chancellor emphasized.

Experts believe that Elon Musk's statements could pose an additional challenge for Germany, as they undermine efforts to strengthen democratic values in the country.
