The U.S. Department of Defense has signed a contract with Williams International worth $253.7 million. The funds will be allocated to increase missile production, including those used in military assistance to Ukraine. This information is stated on the Pentagon's website, as reported by UNN.
Details
The contract, awarded under the Defense Production Act (DPA), will allow Williams International to expand its manufacturing capabilities for gas turbine engines. This is necessary to boost the production of the following types of weapons:
- Harpoon anti-ship missiles;
- AGM-158 JASSM air-to-ground missiles;
- AGM-158C LRASM long-range anti-ship missiles;
- Tomahawk cruise missiles and other precision strike weapons.
The U.S. Department of Defense noted that the funds for this contract are provided under the DPA Procurement Program (DPAP), as outlined in the 2024 Supplemental Appropriations Act for Security Needs in the Indo-Pacific region, as well as the 2024 Supplemental Appropriations Act for Security Needs in Ukraine.
It is highlighted that these efforts will contribute to increasing the production capabilities of critically important materials needed for defense against hostile aggression.
The Pentagon also mentioned that this contract is one of five awards given by the DPAP program office across various sectors, totaling $290.8 million since the beginning of the 2025 fiscal year.
Reminder
The U.S. will allocate a new military assistance package to Ukraine worth $500 million. This package will include ammunition for HIMARS, anti-tank weapons, and drone countermeasures.
