In Paris, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a trilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and elected US President Donald Trump
This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
During the meeting, they discussed our people and how to support them, the overall situation, and the establishment of a just peace.
“We all want peace. But for us, it is very important – and this is our position – that the peace is just for all of us and that there is no possibility for Russia, for Putin, or any other aggressors to come back. And this is the most important thing – a just peace and security guarantees, strong security guarantees for Ukraine,” the President concluded.
“President Trump, as always, is determined… Peace through strength is possible,” Zelensky stated on Telegram.
In a comment to reporters, the President emphasized that it is necessary for “partners to hear about our positions directly from us.”
“Ukraine's positions are clear. It is important for us that partners hear them from us, not from someone else. Without Ukraine, a just peace and any agreements are impossible. Partners understand this, and I am glad that they are receptive to it,” Zelensky said.
Heads of state and government from around 40 countries arrived in Paris for the ceremony marking the reopening of the Notre-Dame Cathedral after the fire that occurred five years ago. The cathedral was ceremonially reopened on Saturday, December 7. Zelensky arrived in Paris yesterday and held several bilateral meetings throughout the day. In particular, he spoke with Austrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer and Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili.
A massive fire at the Notre-Dame Cathedral occurred on April 15, 2019. It lasted for 15 hours, resulting in the collapse of the spire and roof of the building. According to French investigators, the fire in the cathedral may have been caused by a short circuit or by work-related activities. The reconstruction of the Cathedral began in 2020.
