"There's no need for mediation between Ukraine and Putin," stated Volodymyr Zelensky during his speech at the Munich Conference.

The lack of security guarantees will only provide Russia with a breather.
«Не стоит искать посредничества между Украиной и Путиным», – выступление Владимира Зеленского на Мюнхенской конференции.

The absence of security guarantees will only give Russia a pause

A peace agreement cannot be signed in Munich. This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, during his speech on February 14 at the security conference in Munich.

“We remember what was once signed here. I do not repeat such things,” Volodymyr Zelensky said, alluding to the Munich Agreement of 1938, when the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia was ceded to the Third Reich.

Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that there can only be a plan for ending the war, which must primarily be discussed and supported by the presidents of Ukraine and the USA. In this plan, the countries of the European Union should play an important role, as the EU is an equal partner making significant financial, military, and humanitarian contributions.

In any case, decisions about Ukraine cannot be made without Ukraine. The absence of security guarantees will only give Putin a pause. As Volodymyr Zelensky noted, Putin is lying to the USA by claiming that he wants peace.

“I told Trump that Putin is a liar,” the President of Ukraine recounted.

He also commented on the statements made by the USA regarding Ukraine's potential NATO membership.

“Both Biden and Trump said that Ukraine will not be in NATO. The USA has never seen Ukraine in NATO and has said so. The leaders of the USA have never said that we will be in NATO, so the question is not for Trump, but for US policy. This is likely US policy. But that does not mean we cannot change it. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are strong; they can strengthen NATO,” Volodymyr Zelensky stated.

If Ukraine does not become a member of the Alliance, it will need to double its armed forces. There is also a need to increase the production of weapons and the army in Europe, the President of Ukraine emphasized.
