The cooperation will focus on security, energy, and scientific-technical partnership
Today, January 16, Ukraine and Great Britain signed an agreement for a 100-year partnership.
This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a joint press conference in Kyiv, as reported by “European Truth”.
The text of the agreement has been published on the website of the Office of the President. The agreement outlines military cooperation and the establishment of a new structure to enhance security in the Baltic, Black, and Azov Seas, as well as to deter ongoing Russian aggression.
Additionally, the document discusses strengthening collaboration in the field of defense cooperation (including technology exchange and enhancing Ukraine's defense procurement system), energy, economy, and trade.
Moreover, the parties will deepen institutional ties in countering foreign information manipulation and interference, and will take measures to hold accountable states that commit gross violations of international law.
“This Agreement shall remain in effect for 100 (one hundred) years from the date it comes into force, unless either party terminates it,” the document states.
It is worth noting that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Kyiv for an unannounced visit on the morning of Thursday, January 16. During the meeting between Starmer and Volodymyr Zelensky, the capital was attacked by Russian drones: in particular, one of the drones was spotted over the Mariinsky Palace.
