Ukraine celebrates the birth of the Son of God for the third time amidst the sounds of explosions
The Christmas holiday carries a unique atmosphere that Ukrainians, despite everything, preserve within themselves and share with those nearby.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in a greeting on the occasion of the holiday.
“This is our third Christmas during the war… And we are celebrating Christmas on the same date for the second time as one large family, one united country,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.
Our large Ukrainian family, he continued, cannot fully celebrate it — not as we would like, nor as it should be.
“Unfortunately, not all of us are at home. Sadly, not everyone has a home. And unfortunately, not all of us are with us. However, despite all the troubles that the enemy has brought us, they have not managed to capture or destroy the most important thing — our hearts, the light within us, our faith in goodness and mercy, the humanity within each of us,” emphasized the President of Ukraine.
We have not lost our values, noted the Head of State, and that is why today we honor all those who gave their lives defending us.
“We pray today for all those on the front lines, that they return alive. For all those in captivity, that they come home. For all those whom Russia has driven into occupation. For everyone forced to leave. For all those who are struggling but have not lost Ukraine within themselves. Therefore, they will never be lost to Ukraine. Whether alive, at a distance, or in spirit — Ukrainians are together today. And as long as we do this, evil has no chance,” highlighted Volodymyr Zelensky.
Reminder, today a Christmas procession with caroling stars will take place in the center of Kyiv
