British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with leaders from European countries

Leaders from France, Germany, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Canada, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Romania are expected to attend. The summit will also include the Turkish Foreign Minister, NATO Secretary General, and Presidents of the European Commission and the European Council.

As reported by Keir Starmer's Office, discussions will focus on strengthening Ukraine's position, including ongoing military support and increasing economic pressure on Russia, as well as the necessity of establishing a strong long-term agreement that ensures lasting peace in Ukraine and guarantees that Ukraine can deter and defend against future Russian attacks.

Yesterday, March 1, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a loan agreement amounting to approximately three billion US dollars for Ukraine's defense needs.

The signing ceremony, which took place online, was attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The funds are part of the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) mechanism from the G7 countries, totaling 50 billion US dollars. The loan will be serviced and repaid from future revenues generated from frozen Russian sovereign assets.

The financing is provided for a period of 30 years. The raised funds will be allocated for the procurement of defense materials, according to the needs of the Ukrainian side.

“The loan will enhance our defense capabilities and will be repaid from the income generated by frozen Russian assets. The funds will be used for weapons production in Ukraine. This is only fair: the one who started the war should pay,” wrote the President of Ukraine on social media.
