The installation featuring photographs of fallen Ukrainian soldiers that was unveiled in the center of Warsaw sparked public outrage

A series of street boards were set up next to the newly opened Museum of Contemporary Art on the central Marszałkowska street, as reported by BBC News Ukraine.

The organizers of this project came up with a creative idea: they displayed images of Ukrainian soldiers with their faces cut out, allowing passersby to insert their own faces and take a photo. Below the images, the birth and death dates of the defenders were also noted along with the message: “Become a hero,” reported the Polish publication In Poland.

Meanwhile, the creators of the controversial installation stated in their defense that they only aimed to draw attention to the war in Ukraine and highlight how the conflict alters perceptions of heroism.

They also emphasized that they wanted to provoke viewers to reflect on what it means to be a hero in wartime.

Additionally, public attention was drawn to a video posted by a user on Instagram. She mentioned that the information on the boards was inaccurate: the girl depicted on one of the boards turned out to be alive, and another board contained incorrect life dates.

Ultimately, the installation was taken down, and the project's authors apologized for such “creativity.”
