The creator of "Desperate Housewives" hinted at a potential reboot of the series.

The creator of "Desperate Housewives," Marc Cherry, is open to exploring a different era on Wisteria Lane - the fictional street where the characters of this American series reside, reports UNN citing Variety.

In a recent interview with People magazine, Cherry presented his idea for a prequel to the popular ABC series featuring Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria in leading roles.

"I would probably want to set this idea in an earlier decade," Cherry told the publication. "Because the character I miss the most is actually Wisteria Lane. It was the most fun playground anyone has ever had in television history because we owned the whole street. I know that street like the back of my hand. When someone shoots a commercial on that street, I immediately recognize it because I know all those houses, I know the geography. It was such a fun place to write for. And there were moments when I thought, 'You know what? I wonder if I could write about Wisteria Lane somewhere in 1966.'"

Cherry, who also created the series "Devious Maids" and "Why Women Kill," estimated that "around 70,000 people" have asked him about a reboot of "Desperate Housewives." He added, "The truth is, I have a couple of ideas on how to do it."

However, the creator of "Desperate Housewives" will only consider a reboot if "there's still something to say." "If you're doing a reboot, you need to have a really strong artistic reason for it," he explained. "And at some point, I sit down with someone and say, 'Okay, let's discuss if there's a compelling enough reason to do this.'
