The Ukrainian Book Institute has organized a Children's Reading Week to highlight the significance of children's literature, reports UNN referencing the Ukrainian Book Institute.
Details
The Children's Reading Week, themed "The Light of History," aims to emphasize the importance of children's literature, family reading practices, creating a cozy atmosphere with books, and reading for pleasure.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Book Institute is hosting an online festival called "Family Reading," where children's authors will read excerpts from their books. A total of 65 events have been registered for the festival.
Among the featured authors are Ivan Malkovich, Lesya Voronina, Mia Marchenko, Yekaterina Shtanko, Kristya Vengrynyuk, Dara Korniy, and many other talented writers.
Together with BaraBooka, they have prepared a catalog titled "Ukrainian Children's Lit | 2024," which includes approximately 400 titles of new Ukrainian children's publications. The catalog categorizes books into sections: first books, preschoolers, elementary school, and teenagers. It will be useful for librarians and anyone interested in the literary process seeking literature for children of all ages.
In celebration of Children's Reading Week, over 200 events of various themes are planned to take place in Ukraine and abroad.
Reminder
A rare copy of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" from 1997 was sold at auction in Britain. The book, once purchased for 10 pounds, turned out to be one of the 500 copies from the first hardcover edition.
