Following her second Oscar win and two additional Grammy awards for her contribution to Greta Gerwig's feature film about Barbie, "What Was I Made For?", Billy released her third full-length album "HIT ME HARD AND SOFT". After its release, the album topped the all-genre Apple Music album chart in 138 countries worldwide.
Interestingly, this year the singer was nominated for seven more GRAMMY awards. Additionally, Billy Eilish became the first person to receive the "Artist of the Year" award from Apple Music twice, having first won it in 2019.
"Since the moment we first heard 'Ocean Eyes' almost ten years ago, we have been fans and admirers of Billy's work," said Rachel Newman, Senior Director of Content and Editorial at Apple Music.
The singer herself noted that Apple Music has actively supported her music, and receiving the recognition of "Artist of the Year" was a great honor for her.
