Early in the morning on Thursday, January 23, Russians launched missile attacks on Zaporizhzhia, resulting in four powerful explosions. Residential buildings were damaged, with one confirmed death and 25 injured.
Updated 8:40 The number of injured due to the massive shelling of Zaporizhzhia has risen to 25 people. Among them are four rescuers who were extinguishing fires at the site of the first strike and were harmed during the subsequent Russian attack, reported the State Emergency Service.
"In the private sector, a person was rescued from under the debris, four others were injured, and one has died. An administrative building, residential houses, and private properties were affected. Emergency services are on the scene. A total of 45 rescuers and 10 units of equipment have been deployed," the statement said.
As clarified by Ivan Fedorov, due to the Russian attack, one apartment building was destroyed, and thirty others were damaged. Additionally, private homes and non-residential premises in the Shevchenkivskyi and Oleksandrivskyi districts of Zaporizhzhia were hit.
Updated 7:38 The number of injured has increased to 24 people, reported Ivan Fedorov. Medical personnel are providing urgent assistance to them.
A 47-year-old man has died, reported the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Ivan Fedorov. Among the injured is a two-month-old baby, who has been taken to the hospital. Five of the injured are in serious condition, while the condition of another five is assessed as moderate — including two State Emergency Service employees. The remaining injured will receive outpatient treatment after medical assistance.
Fedorov showed a video of the house that was hit by a Russian missile. The wall of the building was destroyed, and the apartments were shattered.
It is reported that, according to preliminary data, Russians struck Zaporizhzhia with "Iskander-M"/KN-23 ballistic missiles. Up to ten residential buildings were damaged.
It is worth noting that on the evening of January 22, Russian occupiers conducted a mass drone attack on Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the attack, most of the drones were destroyed; however, five UAVs hit an infrastructure facility.
As reported by "Telegraph," on the evening of January 21, Russians launched an attack with drones on Mykolaiv. And on the night of Saturday, January 18, the enemy attacked Ukraine with drones and early in the morning with ballistic missiles. Several explosions were heard in Kyiv, and two explosions were also reported in Zaporizhzhia, with loud sounds in Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result of the enemy shelling in Kyiv, four people were killed, and in Zaporizhzhia, ten people were injured.
