The reasons for the retreat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are complex and tied to three key factors.
This was stated by military expert, reserve colonel of the Ukrainian Navy Vladislav Seleznev during a broadcast on Ukrainian Radio. One of the main factors is the significant advantage of Russian forces in terms of manpower and material-technical resources.
"Moreover, the enemy completely disregards the considerable daily losses among personnel, armored vehicles, and weaponry," the expert adds.
The second factor is the psychological and physical exhaustion of Ukrainian servicemen, who have been on the front lines for an extended period without scheduled rotations. The lack of opportunities for rest and recovery impacts the morale of the soldiers, especially those who have not left combat positions for over a year.
The third reason, according to Seleznev, lies in erroneous command decisions that sometimes overlook the analysis of past combat operations. The military expert noted that NATO armies conduct thorough reviews after each operation to identify mistakes and draw conclusions for future actions.
"Unfortunately, it has not become a tradition in the Ukrainian army to investigate these histories, and many well-known Ukrainian military experts constantly emphasize this. There are problems. The Ukrainian army is also evolving and transforming into a modern-type army, and on this path, we do not avoid mistakes, particularly at the level of certain commanders," the expert explains.
