The Warner Bros studio is assessing the feasibility of producing a feature film based on the works of George R.R. Martin. This is reported by Hollywood Reporter, as conveyed by UNN.
Details
The publication states that Warner Bros. is quietly developing at least one film set in the epic fantasy universe of George Martin. Several sources describe the project as being in a very early stage of development, with no director, actors, or screenwriter attached yet. Currently, the company is merely exploring the idea of bringing Westeros to the big screen.
This move could signify a shift in the company's strategy regarding its intellectual properties. It is known that the showrunners of the original "Game of Thrones" series (David Benioff and D.B. Weiss) wanted to conclude the series with three feature films instead of its final season in 2019. Martin was also intrigued by the idea of a film. However, HBO was long resistant to this concept, wishing to retain the rights to the series.
Reminder
HBO has already released "House of the Dragon" - a prequel to "Game of Thrones," and is currently developing its third season. A spin-off titled "Knight of the Seven Kingdoms," based on Martin's tales "Dunk and Egg," is set to debut in 2025.
Fans are also eagerly anticipating "The Winds of Winter" - Martin's next book.
Additionally
Marvel has announced the release dates for seven new series on Disney+ from December 2024 to December 2025. Among the announced projects are new seasons of What If, Daredevil Born Again, and several new series.
