King Charles and Queen Camilla are planning their trip to Italy to commemorate their 20th wedding anniversary. Reports indicate that this will be the royal couple's first significant overseas journey this year, featuring an audience with the Pope and a visit to the Sistine Chapel.
The visit is conducted on behalf of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office to strengthen relations between the UK and Italy following Brexit.
During their stay, the couple will also celebrate their 20th anniversary, which falls on April 9—coinciding with the anniversary of Prince Philip's death, the king's father.
Charles and Camilla married in 2005 and later received church blessings at Windsor Castle. A source from the royal family stated that the King and Queen are delighted at the opportunity to visit Italy and strengthen diplomatic ties between the countries, with the coincidence of their anniversary date with the trip being a pleasant symbolic addition.
On Sunday, the royal couple attended the morning service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham. Despite the cold weather, they were in high spirits.
Reminder
King Charles will continue to receive cancer treatment in 2025. Buckingham Palace has reported that the health condition of the 76-year-old king is "moving in a positive direction."
