There will be no encirclement of the Ukrainian troops in Kurakhove, but we will have to leave the city; we cannot hold it in the long term.

This was stated by military-political analyst Alexander Kovalenko from the "Information Resistance" group in an interview with Vasily Pekhno.

"The question here is different – how long we can hold it to maximize the enemy's depletion, to exhaust their human resources as much as possible, to make them lose equipment, and so on.

So, all these locations in the Pokrovsk-Kurakhove direction that we are currently discussing should be seen as elements of enemy attrition; we should not speak of them as if they are some impregnable fortress that can never be captured," Kovalenko stated.

According to the expert, we are currently not in a position to ensure such a level of defense, but we can deplete the enemy, and preliminary conclusions regarding the number of destroyed personnel and equipment of the occupiers for 2024 indicate that we have handled this task excellently.

"The losses that the Russian troops have incurred in 2024, and the territorial gains they have achieved, bear no relation to, let's say, the effective use of resources. Therefore, yes, the outlook is not optimistic at all. The question is how long," Kovalenko added.
