Not until 18: a former advisor to Zaluzhny explained why Ukraine should lower the age for mobilization.

Ukraine will need to prepare reserves.
Бывший советник Залужного объяснил, почему Украине следует понизить возраст мобилизации до 18 лет.

Ukraine will likely have to lower the conscription age. However, the discussion will not involve 18 years old.

This was stated by Major General Viktor Nazarov, a consultant to former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi, in an interview with BBC. According to him, there is also no talk of training servicemen for combat operations.

"I do not support the notion that we need to mobilize from the age of 18, as our partners criticize us here. At least, we will probably have to do this starting from 21 years old," he said.

Nazarov added that Ukraine will need to mobilize youth to prepare future reserves, rather than for combat operations.

Moreover, he disagrees with the idea that Ukraine cannot cope without increased mobilization and believes that stopping the Russian offensive will require the right amount of firepower.

At the same time, the general noted that the Russians can maintain their current pace of advance for a long time, as they still have the ability to recruit people and enlist mercenaries from other countries.

According to him, Russia has managed to utilize its significant resources and transition its economy to a wartime footing. Additionally, Nazarov pointed out that the Russians do not care about losses, as this topic is not a matter of political discussion and accusations for them.

As reported by "Telegraph," recently President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to calls to lower the conscription age in Ukraine to 18 years. According to him, the priority is to equip the existing troops with technology and weaponry first.
