On November 21, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced that the Russian Federation had deployed a new ballistic missile called "Oreshnik" against Ukraine.
Military-political analyst Alexander Kovalenko from the "Information Resistance" group shared on his Telegram channel details about this missile, which had previously gone unnoticed.
Putin stated that the missiles strike their targets at a speed of 10 Mach, which translates to 2.5-3 kilometers per second, and that current global air defense systems and the missile defense systems being developed by the Americans in Europe are unable to intercept such missiles.
However, according to the expert, similar claims had already been made regarding the "Dagger" and "Zircon" missiles.
Kovalenko pointed out that many Russian propaganda outlets began to downplay the significance of the weapon used in the attack on Dnipro later in the day, suggesting that it was not an intercontinental ballistic missile but merely a medium-range ballistic missile, a claim that Putin later echoed.
"It seems that after the strike and realizing what had been done and the potential consequences, with such a minimal initial impact, once the examination confirms what type of missile was used against Dnipro, some individuals in the Kremlin felt a tightening in their seats to the size of a needle's eye, leading to the immediate dismissal of the 'Oreshnik'," – stated Alexander Kovalenko.
