The United States has temporarily halted arms shipments to Ukraine, prompting significant reactions from experts and global leaders. The administration of President Donald Trump is currently reassessing its policy towards Kyiv, leading to a brief "pause."
This was reported by Reuters, as conveyed by Glavpost.
According to the publication, a minor delay occurred over the past weekend when discussions in the White House focused on the necessity of continuing military aid to Ukraine. One source noted that there was initially consideration of a complete cessation of aid, but this idea was later abandoned.
Within the Trump administration, there are disagreements regarding the level of support for Ukraine. Some officials advocate for a reduction in supplies, arguing that the U.S. should prioritize its domestic issues. However, other factions within the White House emphasize that Ukraine requires support to maintain its independence.
Since Trump's inauguration in January 2025, the administration has not announced any new military aid packages. Meanwhile, previous shipments approved under Joe Biden continue to arrive over the course of several months due to logistical delays.
"We see the need to reevaluate our approach to aid to make it as targeted as possible and aligned with the interests of the American people," stated one administration representative.
It remains unclear whether the White House will officially acknowledge the temporary suspension and subsequent resumption of shipments. Nevertheless, this event has already signaled potential changes in U.S. policy towards Ukraine.
