The Museum Fund Registry of Ukraine was unveiled in Kyiv. This took place during a conference, as reported by UNN citing the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.
The primary aim of creating the Museum Fund Registry of Ukraine is to consolidate information about the museum fund of Ukraine in one place and make it accessible to the public and professionals. Currently, more than 300 museums out of a total of 652 have already joined the electronic registry.
The conference held in the capital marked the final event of the project "Implementation of the Electronic Accounting System for the Museum Fund of Ukraine," which is being executed in accordance with a memorandum between the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Center for Cultural Studies, and the International Solidarity Fund, with support from the government of the Republic of Poland.
Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization, Anastasia Bondar. She emphasized that during times when Ukraine faces not only physical aggression but also attempts to destroy Ukrainian identity, culture is also a battlefield.
"Russia is not just destroying our monuments - it is using culture as a weapon. The theft of artifacts, their inclusion in Russian registries, the propaganda of a 'common history,' and the alteration and distortion of historical facts are signs of cultural genocide, an attempt to erase Ukrainian identity. The electronic accounting system for the Museum Fund that we present today is our contribution to preservation and restoration. This system already allows us to meticulously record and document, and in the future, to return what has been stolen," said the Deputy Minister.
Digital transformation aims to make Ukraine the most convenient country in the world - for both citizens and the cultural community, noted the ministry.
"We are building a system that is accessible, understandable, and modern. Moreover, we are implementing it not only for ourselves but also as part of a global initiative to protect cultural values," added Anastasia Bondar.
