On the night of February 1, Russians launched a mass attack with strike drones in Zaporizhzhia. Most of the enemy UAVs were neutralized by mobile fire groups, but unfortunately, there were some hits.
This was reported by a correspondent from "Telegraph", and the information was confirmed by the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov. According to monitoring channels, at least 20 drones attacked the city, and it is likely that the actual number is significantly higher.
"The enemy has delivered more than 10 strikes on Zaporizhzhia. This is the most massive attack in recent times. The consequences are being assessed. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. All emergency services are on site.", Fedorov wrote, adding that the alarm is ongoing and people should stay in shelters.
Residents of Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding areas reported numerous explosions. Mobile fire groups neutralized most of the strike drones, and some of the downed UAVs may have fallen into the Dnieper. The city council secretary, Regina Kharchenko, urged residents to stay in shelters.
"Community! Mobile fire groups continue their work! Stay in shelters! Take care of yourselves and your loved ones.", she wrote.
Update. Fedorov reported that as a result of the occupiers' attack, private homes were damaged. The Russians traditionally target civilian populations.
"As of now, private homes have been damaged due to the enemy attack — windows have been shattered and roofs damaged," he wrote.
Updated 02:57. Fedorov wrote that the enemy initially sent 16 drones to Zaporizhzhia. This is one of the most extensive attacks in recent times.
"According to updated information, the Russians sent 16 drones to the city. As a result of the attack, an infrastructure facility was damaged, along with multi-story and private houses. More than 400 subscribers have lost power," the message states.
Let us remind you that in Kyiv on the night of February 1, a series of explosions was also heard. The capital repelled an attack from Russian strike drones attempting to target the city, a threat neutralized by air defense.
It is noteworthy that Russian occupiers, on the night of February 1, launched attacks on several Ukrainian regions with cruise and ballistic missiles amid a large-scale strike drone assault. In particular, Poltava, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk regions, and Odesa for the second time in recent hours were under attack.
