The Third Assault Brigade, already recognized for its unconventional advertising approach, has released a new video. This time, it is styled in anime.
The video was published on the brigade's Facebook page. It is dedicated to the war and depicts young Ukrainians who have joined the ranks of defenders.
"Ask yourself, what kind of world would you like to live in? Choose the universe of the Third Assault Brigade! Bring the war to the forefront in the modern and largest unit of the Armed Forces. Manage operations, eliminate evil. Support your own, go all out, and become a living legend of this struggle," reads the caption of the video.
The footage features the same banner from the previous advertisement, which sparked intense debates online due to "objectifying women" and portraying Russian soldiers as zombies. One of them even managed to play "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2" on screen, while another read a newspaper on the pressing topic of negotiations.
The video shows two children forced to hide in a house occupied by Russians, followed by the journey of youth within the ranks of the Ukrainian army. It concludes with an image of the brigade commander, Andriy Biletsky, also depicted in an anime style.
Online, it was recalled that Biletsky had discussions about the role of anime as far back as 2019.
Meanwhile, there are demands for a full-fledged sequel with a solid storyline aimed at an international audience, while others noted that the video’s plot seemed a bit rushed. Some even speculated that the video was intentionally designed to attract individuals who have not yet reached the conscription age.
It is worth mentioning that in Japan, airsoft enthusiasts and military cosplayers have been following the topic of the Russian war against Ukraine since 2014. They are also well acquainted with Biletsky’s persona.
As previously reported, the 47th brigade created a remake of a 20-year-old UAF promotional video and even involved the same actor.
