A Ukrainian woman living in Germany, Maria Gerlein, is selling her own artwork titled "Milk in a Glass II" for $55. However, it is so unusual that it has sparked lively discussions.
The artist posted the lot on the Facebook page "Sol-Sol," which serves as a public platform for buying and selling contemporary visual art (18+). The drawing features two rectangles, a white paint blot, and dark "doodles" on the side.
"Milk in a Glass II, 2024, envelope, pencils, acrylic, 21 x 27.9 cm, unframed, Kyiv, 2150 UAH, 55 USD", — the author captioned her painting.
However, in the comments under the drawing, there are no buyers for this "masterpiece." Instead, there are many sarcastic remarks.
"This piece should hang in the Louvre! Next to the Mona Lisa!", "Annoying the public is also an art... I could do that, a child could do that... You can't!!! Because someone did it before you", "Cruel postmodernism", "I do love avant-garde, but this is beyond good and evil", "I'll just add a receipt and write to you", — users are joking online.
0 1At the same time, one user defended the artist. However, even he noted that the price set by the author for the drawing is too high.
"Why be so cruel? Everyone has the right to self-expression. The only thing to note is that it's priced too high. There's no need to look down on someone, wake up", — wrote one of the commenters.
2Earlier, "Telegraph" reported that a monument to the famous wandering Ukrainian philosopher Hryhorii Skovoroda was erected in a park near the Small Academy of Arts in Poltava. However, rags were hung on the head of the monument.
