"Russia will face trouble if...": Key statements from Trump about Ukraine on his first day in office.

In the United States, it is believed that concluding the war without a compromise is impossible.
"Россия столкнется с проблемами, если...": ключевые заявления Трампа о Украине в первый день его президентства.

After signing a series of decrees, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his readiness to end the war in Ukraine. According to him, the first step will be a conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

As Trump noted at the White House, he will specify the exact timeline for ending the war after speaking with the President of Russia. However, he is confident that Putin has compelling reasons to bring it to a close.

"He has to reach an agreement. I believe that he is destroying Russia by not reaching an agreement ", – Trump told reporters at the White House following the inauguration.

He stated that Russia will face significant problems if it does not stop the war. The country’s economy is already nearly shattered.

"Most people thought the war would end in a week. I think it would be very good if he (Putin — ed.) ended this war," – Trump remarked.

At the same time, the U.S. President did not mention a date for his conversation with Putin, only emphasizing that it will certainly happen.

He also added that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants to reach an agreement to end the war, and Putin must finally understand that he is "destroying Russia" by not reaching an agreement.

" Zelensky wants to reach an agreement. I don't know if Putin wants that. Maybe yes, maybe no. I don't know. But he must reach an agreement," Trump stated.

Regarding sanctions against Russia, Trump emphasized that they will remain in place until the war is concluded. During his conversation with reporters, he reiterated that "the war between Ukraine and Russia should never have started and wouldn't have started if he were president," and declared his intention to resolve it soon.

At the same time, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio believes that Russia and Ukraine must make concessions, which are "a natural part of resolving any conflict."

"Every time you end a conflict between two sides, neither of which can achieve their maximum goals, each side will have to give up something," Rubio stated.

He did not specify what concessions might be involved but noted that the final decision will be made by Russia and Ukraine. According to him, ending the war is currently Donald Trump's top priority.

Earlier, "Telegraph" reported that Trump interestingly responded to a question about ending the war within 24 hours.
